One-Hit Wonders Trivia Questions and Answers

Songs everybody can sing by acts almost nobody can name — which is exactly what makes it the best party topic in the bank. Questions go from the song to the artist far more often than the reverse, because that is the direction the memory actually works in. The pool spans several decades and several countries, including a number of tracks that were enormous in one market and unheard in the next. It is the topic most likely to produce the moment where an entire table recognises a lyric instantly and stares at each other with no idea who recorded it.

How to play these as a game

Trivia Tavern runs these as a live round: one person opens a room, everyone else joins with a five-character code, and answers are locked in on each player’s own phone with a clock running. Faster correct answers score more, and a match draws from the full one-hit wonders pool — around two hundred questions, of which the 39 above are a sample.

Two to eight players, about fifteen minutes for three rounds, and nobody needs to make an account to sit down.
