Who these terms are with

Boardit (playboardit.com) is run by Ahmed Moaz, an independent developer. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Questions about them go to hello@playboardit.com.

Who can use it

Boardit is not made for children under 13, and you should not use it if you are under 13. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms like these where you live, use it only with a parent or guardian who has read them.

Using the site

Boardit is free to use and needs no account: a guest seat asks only for a name. You may play as much as you like. You may not attempt to break the site, disrupt other people’s games, automate play, scrape the site, or work around the limits that keep rooms fair, such as the rule that one account holds one seat at a time.

To protect accounts and keep spam out, the site limits failed sign-ins, new guests, new accounts, account emails and wrong room codes. A pause lifts by itself after a few minutes, and resetting your password always works. If you find a security problem, report it to hello@playboardit.com rather than testing it on other players.

Guests and accounts

A guest seat is a temporary account with no email or password. A guest who has not been active for 30 days becomes eligible for deletion, along with their profile, so a guest should not expect a name or history to last longer than that. Creating an account keeps your name, your Tok and your settings until you ask for the account to be deleted.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your password to yourself. Pick a display name that is not offensive and does not pretend to be somebody else. We may remove an account that is being used to abuse other players or the site. You can have your account deleted at any time by emailing privacy@playboardit.com.

Room codes and tables

A table is opened by its host, who gets a five-character room code. A room code seats whoever holds it, so share yours only with people you actually want at your table, in a private message rather than a public post. Tables are listed publicly by default so that people browsing the site can join; a host who wants only the people holding the code can make the table private.

Tables tidy themselves up so that one absent person cannot hold everybody else hostage. A seated player who has the lobby off screen for 10 minutes gives the seat up, a host who is away for 5 minutes while somebody else is present hands the host role on, and a game nobody has had on screen for 15 minutes is closed. Games with a turn clock play a turn for a player whose time runs out, so the table can carry on.

Behaviour at the table

Rooms have chat. Do not use it, or a display name, a custom word list or a drawing, to harass, threaten, abuse or demean anybody, to post sexual or hateful content, to share other people’s personal information, or to advertise. A host can remove a player from the lobby, and the players at a table can vote somebody out during a game. A player who has been removed cannot see that room again or sit back down at it.

Reporting a problem

To report a player, a name, a chat message, a drawing or anything else you think is abusive or illegal, email hello@playboardit.com with the game, roughly when it happened and what you saw. Please do not post the room code anywhere public. Reports are read by a person; content or accounts that break these terms or the law are removed, and if you gave an email you will be told what was done.

What you put on the site

Your display name, chat messages, custom words and drawings stay yours. By putting them on the site you let Boardit store them and show them to the other people at your table for as long as the room exists, which is all they are used for. Chat and live game state are removed with the room. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share.

The games are original

Every game on Boardit is written here: its board, its rules, its artwork and its text. No trademark, board, artwork or component belonging to anybody else is reproduced anywhere on this site. Property Rush is an original property-trading game; it is not Monopoly, and Boardit is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hasbro. The site’s code, design, games and writing belong to Boardit, and you may not copy them to run a rival service.

Other services

The site relies on other companies to run: hosting, sign-in, the database, email, analytics and advertising. The privacy policy names them and says what each one receives. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; Boardit does not control those sites and is not responsible for them.

Advertising

The site may show advertising through Google AdSense on its public pages, the home page and the game pages. Ads never load inside a room or at a game table. What advertising means for your data is set out in the privacy policy.

What is not promised

The site is provided as it is. It is a free board-game site run by one person: it may go down, a room may end early, a game in progress may be lost, and a feature may change or be withdrawn. Nothing here is critical infrastructure and it should not be relied on as though it were. To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from using it. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the law where you live that cannot be limited by agreement.

Ending your use

You can stop using Boardit at any time, and ask for your account to be deleted as described above. Boardit may suspend or remove access for anybody who breaks these terms, especially the rules about behaviour at the table.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the site after that is how you accept the new version.
