Easy Trivia Questions and Answers

An easy question is not a stupid one. It is the headline fact — the thing anyone who has ever encountered the subject knows — and it is the reason a quiz stays fun for the people who are not specialists. A round built only from hard questions is not a harder quiz, it is a quiz that four of your six players quietly stop taking part in.

Why a round needs these more than it needs hard ones

Every question below was written against one test, applied to the fact rather than to the options: out of ten people at a table who like this subject, how many get it right? Eight or more and it is easy — the headline fact, the thing anyone who has encountered the subject already knows.

Why that matters is what happens to everybody else in the room. Most of a round has to be gettable by everyone, or the quieter players sit out the entire game. Someone who gets nothing right for fifteen minutes has stopped playing long before the scores are read out, and no amount of clever question-writing brings them back. These are the ones that keep a table in it.

That is why a written round here runs roughly forty percent easy, forty percent medium and twenty percent hard, rather than showing off. The hard fifth is what makes the big points worth chasing; the easy two-fifths are what makes sure there is still a table chasing them.

Easy still has to be well made. The four options stay clearly different and all four stay recognisable, because three obscure choices next to one household name gives the answer away — which makes a question easy for the wrong reason, and teaches a player to pick the option they have heard of rather than the one they know.

Where the rest of them are

These 74 are a cross-section: two from every topic, out of 481 published at this level. Each question above links to the topic page it came from, and every one of those carries a full set at all three levels. The index of all 37 topics is the place to start if you want a round on one subject rather than a spread.

To play them rather than read them, Trivia Tavern runs a live round for two to eight people: one person opens a room, everybody joins with a five-character code, and answers lock in on each player’s own phone against a clock. Guests never make an account.
